Wonderful Finds
Art at the Theatre
Wednesday, April 16, 2 pm
All are invited to experience “Art at the Theatre.” In this presentation Lorella Brocklesby will explore how artists, from the Georgian to Edwardian eras in the UK, France and the U.S, including Hogarth, Manet, Degas, and others portrayed a world of performers, audiences, sumptuous theatre spaces — and offered rare insights into back stage. Lorella, a cultural historian and SWC member who has delighted us with her presentations in the past, is an adjunct professor of humanities at NYU. She specializes in several topics ranging from the history of theater and art, to architecture and design. For several years she was the program director for NYU’S summer program at Christ Church, Oxford, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
The Hollywood of the East Coast

Enjoy a presentation on the early film history of Westchester County presented by Barbara Davis, executive director of the Westchester Historical Society, with Mary Hoar, Yonkers City historian. Pictured is a poster for “The Headless Horseman,” a 1922 silent film set and filmed in Sleepy Hollow.
